Alvin R. Sharp is a judge for the 4th Judicial District, Division I in Louisiana (Ouachita and Morehouse Parishes). He was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015 and expiring on December 31, 2020. Sharp earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern University A&M College in 1986, going on to earn his J.D. (cum laude) from the Southern University Law Center in 1989. The following year he graduated with a master’s in law from Emory University. Sharp was formerly a federal judicial law clerk, ten-year university professor of civil litigation and member of Sharp & Sharp, Attorneys at Law. He has written several textbooks which are used in major universities in Louisiana and Georgia and is a known developer of educational programs for students interested in law.
