Ellen Shirer Kovach is the Division K judge for the 24th Judicial District in Louisiana. She was elected to this position on November 4, 2008, defeating incumbent Judge Martha Sassone. She ran unopposed in 2014, qualifying for a term expiring on December 31, 2020. Kovach received her B.A. from Loyola University in 1982 and her J.D. from the Loyola Law School in 1985. Kovach began her career in 1985 at the law firm of Jones Walker, working in the general litigation section. She then worked for The Kullman Firm from 1992 to 1999 and for Frilot L.L.C. from 1999 until her judicial election in 2008.
