Judge Jason M. Verdigets, District Judge for the 23rd Judicial District, was born in New Orleans and raised in Gonzales, Louisiana in Ascension Parish. He is married to Melissa Brown Verdigets and they have three children, Harrison, Harper and Hayes. They reside in Gonzales, Louisiana. He and his family attend St. John church in Prairieville, Louisiana.

Judge Verdigets is a 1995 graduate of East Ascension High School and subsequently obtained his B.S. degree from LSU in 2000. He then graduated, with honors, from Southern University Law Center in 2003. Judge Verdigets was a felony prosecutor with the District Attorney’s office for the 23rd Judicial District, where he was awarded Drug Prosecutor of the Year in the State of Louisiana in 2012. He also had his own private general practice.

 Judge Verdigets was elected to the bench in November 2014 and took office on January 1, 2015. Judge Verdigets is a member of the Louisiana District Judges Association, National Council for Juvenile and Family Court Judges, Louisiana State Bar Association and the 23RD Judicial District Bar Association. Judge Verdigets is an Adjunct Professor at Southern University Law Center.

Judge Verdigets is involved in many community organizations, such as, East Ascension Rotary, Ascension Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, coach of several youth sport leagues and is a frequent speaker at area schools and law schools for Law Day activities, 4H events, mock trials and career day events. Judge Verdigets was a graduate of Leadership Ascension in 2014 and recognized in the Baton Rouge Business Report Forty under 40 honoree in 2016.
