Judge John Mosely, Jr., is a native of Coushatta, Louisiana.  He graduated from Southern University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  He entered Southern University Law Center and received the Juris Doctor Degree in 1987.

Judge Mosely is a member of the Louisiana State Judges Association, Second Circuit Judges Association, American Judges Association, National Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association, Shreveport Bar Association and the Black Lawyer Association of Shreveport. Judge Mosely’s community activities include Basketball Coach for the Christian Sport League, participation in the City of Shreveport Weed and Seed Program, as well as Shreveport Tomorrow, where is was a former member of the Board of Directors. He is also active with Harry V. Booth and Judge Henry A. Politz American Inn of Court and he also served as Legal Analyst for KMJJ Radio Station.  Judge Mosely is a past member of the Louisiana District Attorney’s Association and the National District Attorney’s Association.

Judge Mosely is a member of Zion Baptist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana, pastored by Reverend Brady L. Blade, where he serves as a Deacon, presently serving as Board Chairman.

On October 21, 1995, Judge Mosely was elected Judge of the First Judicial District Court, State of Louisiana, Parish of CADD0, Subdivision 1, Division “G”. He is the youngest person ever elected to the bench in the First Judicial District Court.
