Judge Self began his service as district judge in January of 2004. Judge Self practiced law from 1984 until his election to the bench. He is a member of the Bossier, Webster, Shreveport and Louisiana Bar Associations, having served as the Young Lawyer Section Chair in 1983 and was a member of the Board of Governors and is currently a member of the Bill of Rights Section. Judge Self is also a member of the American Judges’ Association and the National Association for Court Management. He is currently an instructor at the Northwest Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy. He received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana Tech University, and his law degree from Louisiana State University.
