Judge Theall was elected District Judge, Division M, in 2020 with her term beginning on January 1, 2021. Division M is one of two divisions designated as Family Court and handles family matters such as, divorce, custody, child support, and community property, if minor children are involved. Judge Theall previously served as judge, Division M, from 2011-2014. She served as Chief Judge in 2014.

Prior to election, she practiced law, focusing her practice on family law. Judge Theall was granted certification by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization as a certified Family Law Specialist in 1995. Judge Theall remains a specialist, on “inactive status”.

Judge Theall is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association where she served the Family Law Section as Chair 2008-2009, 2009-2010; Vice-Chair 2007-2008; Secretary 2006-2007; and Treasurer 2002-2004. She was a member of the State Family Law Council from 1998-2011.

Judge Theall is also a member of the Lafayette Parish Bar Association, where she served as a member of the Board of Directors, and also as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Paul K. Woodruff Family Law Section. She was part of the Committee which wrote and proposed amendments to the Local Court Rules of the Fifteenth Judicial District which implemented Family Court in 1999.

Judge Theall graduated from the University of Southwester Louisiana, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University.
